Bicycle Master Plan

Denver Moves is Denver's bicycle and multi-use plan that connects the original Bicycle Master Plans, Denver Parks and Recreation Game Plan, Pedestrian Master Plan, and transit-oriented development plans. BikeDenver is working hard to improve and strengthen the plan and remove loop-holes that allow for the continued development of non-bike and pedestrian friendly streets. A strong Bicycle Master Plan has been the first step for every successful bike friendly city in the world and is a key priority for BikeDenver as we lead the effort to improve Denver's streets and make them safer and more efficient for all users.

Denver's first Bicycle Master Plan was adopted in 1979, and updated in 1987, 1993 and 2001. The Bicycle Master Plan is now part of the Denver Moves program. In July of 2015 the City Auditor published a report indicating that the plan was severely underfunded which was greatly slowing implementation.
